Methodology

Thanks to our experience in the education sector we have developed an effective methodology based on a student-centered approach, which focuses on the students’ needs and goals they want to achieve.
The methodology consists of a well balanced combination of teaching styles:
• Communication – improving students’ speaking skills, enabling them to have conversation in the target language;
• Listening – analysis of modern and contemporary songs and Opera;
• Watching – a detailed study of contemporary films;
• Reading – for students who want to read literature and articles from newspapers and magazines;
• Traditional grammar – for students who want to have in-depth understanding of the language structure and develop their analytical skills.
At My-Lingua we are able to unify all the methods mentioned above into the “global method”.

When learning a new language one of the most difficult things is to understand and overcome the cultural bounds that exist between two countries. Speaking a foreign language can lead to misunderstandings if there is no cultural background knowledge. Examples of cultural aspects of a language are paralinguistic signs such as body language, postures, mimic, intonation and proxemics, i.e. the distance between two people during a conversation. At My-Lingua we provide the cultural tools and advice in order to develop appropriate behaviour, which will help the learners to feel closer to the target culture.

Part of My-Lingua’s methodology is working with small groups of students. In small groups teacher and students can interact more. Therefore, students have more chances to speak and practise their oral skills and rehearse newly learned topics, which is fundamental when learning a foreign language.
